XI South Asian Games
The 11th South Asian Games was a major multi-sport event that took place from January 29th to February 8, 2010 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Two thousand indeterminate athletes from eight countries competed at the Games in 23 different sport events. The sporting giant of the region, India continued its dominance in the game’s medal tally with a staggering 176 medals including 90 gold medals. Pakistan narrowly beat the host to occupy the second spot with 19 gold medals and 25 silver medals while the host Bangladesh captured 18 gold medals including the region’s most popular and prestigious football and cricket titles. Shehan Ambepitiya of Sri Lankan became the fastest man while Pakistan’s Naseem Hamid was crowned the fastest woman of the region wining the 100 meter sprint.
Naseem Hameed emerged as the fastest woman of the South Asia by clocking 11.81 seconds in the 100m sprint. This was the career best feet of the Karachi-based athlete, who was also part of the bronze medal winning 4*100m relay team of the county in the 10th South Asian Games held in Colombo 2006
