Some have fallen in love with our country that they have settled down here. For hundreds of years, we did not advertise our country and a few came then. Now we have made tourist come here from the four corners of the globe and pour out Pounds, Dollars, Francs, Yens and Roubles by millions, thus increasing our foreign exchange earning.There are over a hundred attraction to tourist in our country and to see them all, they will have to spend over an year here. To name a few, there are the ruined cities of Anuradapura,
Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya and Kandy, still grand and majestic. The seven hot well at Tricomalee and the singing fish of Batticaloa lagoon are two other wonders. The three game sanctuaries at Yala, Willpattu and Kumana are a spectacle unseen elsewhere in the wide world. The fire-walkers of Kataragama keep tourist spellbound. The kandy Perahera still retains its ancient glory and few tourist miss it.The golden beaches by the blue sea and the sand, the sun and grand sea-scape add to the long list. The towering majesties of Adam's Peak and Mt. Piduruthalagala located ina picturesque landscape make up just a few of our attractions.
The spectacle of fishermen bringing home the catch in towns like Negombo, Matara, Galle, Chilaw and Jaffana stand unrivaled. Nuwara-Eliya with its lovely tea estates and climate similar to that of England, Hambantota with its saharah heat and Diyathalawa with climate to soothe the invalid give tourists an idea of what the Garden of Eden was.The fauna and flora so variegated and rare are delight to any tourist heart. What a sight it is to see the flowers in May and the fruit of so many kind ion April. It will have to be experienced to be appreciated.
